Did you know that the construction industry is one of the most dangerous industries in the world, responsible for some 53 fatalities

in the UK alone during 2008/2009? You may think that fatal accidents only happen on largeconstruction sites rather than on
domestic builds and refurbishment projects. This is not the case at all. 22% of all fatal accidents over the last 10 years have
occurred on the domestic build projects.

Our advice is that before you start work on any contract you hold a meeting with your customer and discuss what actually lies ahead and what
possible risks you must both overcome. By making your customer and family aware you can work together and reduce the potential areas
of concern and educate your customer of how you intend to minimise risk at all times. Often a builder is busy working overhead on the
scaffolding and does not see the customer returning back to the property with their weekly shop. By simply bibbing your cars horn when you pull
up on your driveway raises awareness and can overcome potential hazardous situations.
